Broadmead Weed Warriors is a resident volunteer program created in 2026. Volunteers complete a one time training class to ensure that they have information about the growth habits of the invasive plants being weeded and how to work safely.
Weed Warriors work in public spaces that Broadmead does not have the budget to assign the Grounds Team or outside contractors to weed.
Stiltgrass and Canada thistle are the targeted weeds for the 2026 season. Volunteers also weed or prune other invasives if those are present where they are weeding. Volunteers meet officially on the third Saturday morning of the month. But volunteers also weed other times as their schedules allow.
The Weed Warriors project is under the Umbrella of the Buildings and Grounds Committee. We are a work group not a committee.
