Weed Warriors are nature stewards, focusing on protecting native ecosystems by removing non-native, invasive plant species. A volunteer program created in 1999 in Montgomery County, MD to empower community members to help Park staff manage invasive plants. This year at Broadmead, the Weed Warrior initiative will focus on Canada Thistle and Japanese’s Stilt Grass. Trained volunteers will improve areas of our campus, alongside accessible areas of Copper Beech Lane. Workdays are scheduled for the 3 Saturday of each month: May 16, June 20. July 18, September 19.
